Do not save a mixture unless the manufacturer specifically says you can. Follow its disposal directions or ask your local hazardous-waste program.

Hair-dye formulas and local programs vary. King County, Washington, accepts hair dye at its hazardous-waste sites, but that rule does not apply everywhere.
Do not pour unwanted dye into a sink, toilet, storm drain, or onto the ground unless the maker and local authority both allow it.
Do not assume an empty bottle belongs in curbside recycling. Residue and packaging type can affect acceptance.
Use Hair Dye Safely
The FDA says to follow package warnings, wear gloves, patch test each time, and keep dye away from children.
Never mix different hair-dye products. Do not leave dye on longer than directed, and never use it on your eyebrows or eyelashes.
